WEST PENNANT HILLS – 2020

This award-winning master granny flat is one of our favourites as it has everything you could want! The judges noted that it ‘has it all’ and were impressed by our luxury features including a modern walk-in robe for the main bedroom, walk-in pantry, breakfast bar, raked ceiling and a large stacker door that opens out onto the alfresco area.  

This two-bedroom granny flat was custom designed to fit a 60m2 space on the property, but through our clever design and contemporary style, it has a light and spacious feel that the judges loved.

The judges also loved our colour palette and our clever use of three different building materials outside to create a modern, sleek style that included additional privacy.  It not only looks good, but because it is simplistic in nature, it can be built quickly and has cost saving design features. They mentioned that this was part of how we ‘set the benchmark for great design’.

PENNANT HILLS – 2019

This 1-bedroom, 60m2 Granny Flat was so well designed to fit the existing house on the property that the judges first comment was that they thought it was a converted garage. They were pleasantly surprised to find that that could not be further from the truth –this granny flat was the new leader in country-style design and oozes with character and charm. 

Its design features include timber-panelled walls, exposed timber rafters in an internally raked, cathedral ceiling, timber flooring, a decorative gable roof, timber French doors in the bedroom and two large timber barn doors that open up the space completely.  

Not only were the judges impressed with the design cohesion that the granny flat brought to the property, tying in with the style of the main house, but they were even more impressed with the extra features we were able to pack into the loft style flat.  These included 20mm stone benchtops, floor-to-ceiling wall tiles, a shower AND bath, internal laundry features and washing line, all while still giving the 1-bedroom flat a sense of open spaciousness.

BEECROFT – 2017

On seeing this 1-bedroom granny flat, the Master Builder judges could not get over how many features this 60m2 granny flat had that an average granny flat wouldn’t include.  It has a 30m2 attached garage and 8m2 tiled porch, raked ceilings, stacker doors, pantry cupboards, ample storage space and an enclosed laundry.  

They mentioned that the high raked ceilings and north facing windows make it an ideal space in winter, full of light and warmth.  The word ‘masterpiece’ was even thrown around!
